Truly incredible pieces of Colt history, these original Colt/Armalite hammers are some of the oldest and rarest out there. Predating even the early Colt blank FCG 601 components, these hammers are marked with a “C” and a smaller “E” inside of it. The “CE” markings were were found from 1959 to 63-64 on cast front sight bases, hammers, triggers, 601 and first type transitional bolt catches, and dimpled selectors. These hammers were always found along with dimpled selectors, cast FSBs and early takedown pins that were indicative of the early 601 series of rifles. There are pictures of 2-3 digit serial 601’s and Colt/Armalite rifles in historical archives (same CE marking could be on the cast FSB and safety as well) that have these hammers in them (actual photo of authentic Colt/Armalite Rifle with these FCG parts in photos). As stated in some of the other listings, Colt did not start marking parts en masse for quality control until the 800,000 serial range, when other contractors like GM and H&R began production EXCEPT for the CE marked parts, which is what you are looking at right now. These are as early as they come — starting production in the late 1950’s. These were used in the early Colt 601’s. They also have the classic Colt Grey colored impeccable finish and are exactly what you need for your early Colt 601 / Armalite series builds. If you are building one of these early rifles and must have perfection, this is it.
The information we have comes from hours of research, data collected from experts and is the most accurate that is available today.
