PRE – ORDER! ( OPTIC & SUPPRESSOR NOT INCLUDED )
We built one of these rifles out to time study & cost analysis. We have 9 more original 1912 Steyr Mausers we could convert and refinish to be identical as this one. This specific rifle is NOT for sale at this time. By purchasing this item, you are pre-paying for us to convert a rifle we have in inventory, to be identical.
These rifles started out as a made in Austria Steyr 1912 Modelo Mauser that was originally chambered in 8mm Mauser. In 1961 they were re-barreled into 308 NATO and donated to the Chilean Army, which makes these rifles known as Chilean Mausers. At some point they made their way back to the US & into our hands.
We started off by completely sanding down the stocks, of all the old lacquer and oils, leaving majority of the dents & dings that give it character and show its age & travels. Re- staining in a dark cherry color with high gloss clear coat finish making the wood grain structure pop. Cutting off the front bottom portion of the stocks to match where the top of the front ended, bobbing the bottoms and reverse inlet milling into the bottom stock to allow the spring lever to capture the stock loop holding the top and bottom wood sections together.
From there we removed the rear iron sight, milled down the mount block itself, and TIG welded on a picatinny ( 1913 ) rail to allow for mounting of an optic.
Working with MOS-TEK, we drew up in CAD the dimensions of a factory Mauser profile barrel, and tweaked a few things, they took a .338 blank and profiled the barrel for us. It has a twist rate of 1:5.
With the barrel in hand we took the action ( receiver ) and Trued & Blue printed it, Lapped the lugs in place and cut the tenon, reamed the barrel, and head spaced it exactly for that specific action.
All of the remaining metal parts, were cerakoted in Armorers Black with the Trigger bow & Full bolt assembly in Gold.
THIS GUN SHOOTS PHEONOMOLY! We’ve ran 280-350GR rounds through it paired with a .338 bore suppressor and its overly quiet!
With the amount of labor, and parts going into one of these rifles, for it to be worth the time & investment on our end, we have to price them at the listed price. I know it sounds high, but it is what it is, & you would have something nobody else does. At the time of this post we only have 9 more mausers we could re work and convert, we cant just order more. So once we build out and sell these 9 rifles for orders, they are gone, and we are done doing these.
You would be getting a sweet piece of history with charm, but chambered in a modern effective hard hitting caliber with some pizazz added to it!
*Build time from the time of purchase will be 4-6 weeks but we will shoot for faster!
